Traps and lures can also be used to control populations, or sometimes maintenance and cleaning is required to stop them at the source. seasonal maintenance treatments

Most people prefer a general maintenance treatment when it comes to Fly control. We can perform a directed mist spray treatment of the interior of your home or business, along with a ceiling cavity insecticide fogging or exterior surfaces spray to keep a lid on any fly infestation. Any flies that interact with a treated surface will die once they ingest a lethal dose through grooming or prolonged contact. Our surface insecticide treatments can kill flies for up to three months or more in the right conditions. You may still experience sightings as new flies succumb to the insecticides. Fly larvae and maggots can infest decomposing biological matter, so it's important to investigate and rule out any possible cleaning or maintenance issues to remove food sources and break their life cycle.
Bug bombs (aerosol or smoke fumigant type) can be used however, these are normally used for knockdown of any exposed insects present at that moment. They offer little residual control and must be repeated 2-3 times per season to be effective, which makes them less economical than one of our directed spray treatments, and with a greater risk of off-target contamination due to the ‘fumigant’ nature of the chemical delivery system. We always recommend a directed spray treatment where possible for maximum control.

  • Flies prefer sun and warmth and breed faster in late Spring and Summer
  • Fly larvae can be found where there is rotting biological matter such as animal excrement, food scraps in composts and drains, damp and moldy environments.
  • Cluster fly eggs are deposited in pasture or large grassy urban areas. Emerging larvae will devour earth worms and later hatch into adults. Adults will cluster together in structures, sometimes in the thousands, in order to survive over winter until the next season.
  • Cleaning and maintenance can be just as effective at reducing fly populations as any chemical or trap.
